Some songs stay with you for years. “My Glorious” by Delirious? was already one of those songs for Andre Butler. The goal was not to simply cover it. We wanted to rebuild it around Andre’s voice, his worship style, and the people closest to him.
Building Andre’s Version
I started by producing the main arrangement and shaping the track around the energy Andre wanted. We kept what made the original song powerful, but we did not want the production to feel like we were copying it piece for piece.
Live drums and guitars were added to give the song more movement and make it feel less programmed. Those live elements helped the track breathe, especially as it builds into the later sections.
Recording the Vocals
Most of the vocals were recorded here at Vivid Tempo Studio. Andre brought the strength and familiarity the song needed, but one of my favorite decisions was making the ending a family moment.
We recorded Andre’s children, nieces, and nephews singing during the tag:
“Glory, glory, send Your glory.”
That changed the feeling of the ending. It was no longer just another repeated section. You could hear the different voices, personalities, and ages coming together. It gave the song a sense of community that could not have been created with a vocal library or a perfectly polished choir sound.
More Than a Cover
This project became less about remaking a familiar worship song and more about documenting how Andre and his family experience it.
The live drums and guitars brought energy to the production. Andre’s vocals gave it direction. His family gave the ending its identity.
That is what made this version worth producing. It still feels familiar, but it belongs to Andre.
